Embedded Links

Using the Content Management System it is a simple matter to add website or mail links to text within pages. This is achieved by selecting the text to be linked and then clicking on the Insert Link icon and completing a simple dialog - essentially entering the URL (address) of the page in question. In some cases the link is then further formatted by the display system. There are three main types of links...

External Links

External links - links to other websites - are formatted by the display system to open the link in a new window. If JavaScript is enabled in the visitor's browser this window is resized to be a little smaller than full screen. This helps re-inforce the message that this is a new window - closing the window returns the visitor to the main site. This is a link to the Wikipedia site to demonstrate how this works.

Internal Links

The display system automatically detects internal links - links to pages within the main site - and formats them so that the link is opened in the same browser window. This is a link to the home page and this is a link to the Contact Us page to demonstrate this mechanism.

Mail Links

Mail links - or mail addresses - are automatically fomatted to open the visitors email client, such as Microsoft Outlook. Here is an email link to contact us to demonstrate this mechanism.
